Building Thermal Storage Systems for Grid Services

Novel building-integrated thermal storage systems for electrical grid services

About the Project

This research assesses novel building-integrated thermal storage systems designed to enhance electrical grid services in heating-dominated climates. The study evaluates three thermal storage concepts: water-based thermal storage (WBTS), thermally activated building systems (TABS), and high-temperature stone storage. Results demonstrate significant potential for load shifting and grid stabilization.
